BOGUE NAMED MEAC WOMEN'S 2009 COACH OF THE YEAR - MEN'S CO-COACH OF THE YEAR IN 2009 BOGUE WINS MILESTONE 200TH CAREER MATCH in 2009 The Columbia, South Carolina native has an extensive background in both coaching and playing tennis. Attending Presbyterian College in Clinton S.C., Coach Bogue competed on the men's tennis team and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in psychology and a minor in economics. Shortly after graduating, Coach Bogue became certified with the United States Professional Tennis Association, and is currently still an active member. Coach Bogue began his coaching career at Augusta College in 1989; now Augusta State University. He turned around the men's program from a 1-44 record for three seasons to a 17-8 record by his third year. During his time at Augusta College, Coach Bogue was the Chairman of the Big South Tennis Conference from 1990-1991. In 1993, he became the head coach of the women's tennis team at Limestone College in Gaffney, South Carolina. After a one-year stint, he moved on to a head coaching position at Spartanburg Methodist Junior College in Spartanburg, S.C. Here he coached his team to being ranked 8th nationally among all junior colleges, two players named NJCAA All-American, and also earned conference coach of the year honors. Currently in hisninth season at Bethune-Cookman University, Coach Bogue has had 24 members of the men's and women's tennis teams named ITA All Academic Scholar Athlete and the women's program was named an ITA All-Academic Team in 2002, '05, '07, `08 and '09. He has coached 26 players named to the All MEAC Team including 2005 women's rookie of the year Kiara Powell. After several second and third place finishes at the HBCU National Tennis Championships the women's team finally captured the title in 2006. |
