Christina Trimble Earns Softball Academic All-District Honors

Daytona Beach, Fla. - Bethune-Cookman junior third baseman Christina Trimble has been named to this year's ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District [3] Softball First Team after earning a perfect 4.00 Grade Point Average for the 2006-07 school term.

Trimble, currently leading the Wildcats softball squad in batting average (.420), hits (71) and is second in RBI (43). She is a junior, Elementary Education major from Riverside, Calif. That has been handling the hot corner for the Wildcats since the middle of the season after leaving the outfield.

Trimble is the second female student-athlete from Bethune-Cookman to earn ESPN The Magazine District 3 honors this year (2006-07) following volleyball student-athlete Rachelle Aupperle earning the award back in December.

Also joining Trimble on the team for District 2 were Delaware State student-athletes Catrina Ansbach, Jesica Chrabaszcz and Samantha Snow.

B-CU will now step into the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference [MEAC] Tournament tomorrow when they take on Norfolk State at 10 a.m. at the Randazzo Softball Park in Severn, Md. The `Cats enter this weekend's affair with the seventh seed, and hold an overall record of 21-34 (5-9 MEAC) under first-year head coach Chris Cochran.
