DeLand, Fla. - Stetson university used six runs in the opening two innings to sprint out to an eventual 7-2 win over Bethune-Cookman University on Sunday in the final game of the Stetson Tournament in nearby DeLand, Fla. The Wildcats finished up the event with just a 1-4overall mark for the weekend. Three Hatters collected a multi-hit day and starter pitcher Amanda Lindsey scattered four hits on the day with just two runs allowed (one earned). Lindsay Wightman went 2-for-4 at the plate with two RBI while teammate and shortstop Megan Voeller bounced back from a rough day yesterday with a 2-for-4 outing with one run and one RBI. B-CU (8-17) got a positive outing at the plate from shortstop Holley Bussey as she went 2-for-3 with the bat and two assisted outs on defense. Also playing well for B-CU was Christina Trimble as she punched in an RBI single in the fifth inning to score Tameika Jonas in order to cut the lead down to 6-2 in favor of Stetson. The Hatters (14-4) plated another run in the seventh frame Nicole Peltz, serving as a pinch runner, scored on a Carolina Rojas double to left field. The loss went to freshman pitcher for B-CU, Lanaya Jenkins who dropped her record down to 3-11 for the campaign. The win went to Lindsey who upped her mark to 4-1 on the season. Stetson relief pitcher Erica Demers went two innings in the pitcher's circle for the Hatters as she struck out three batters in that span in the circle. B-CU is getting back to the swing of things on the diamond when they travel to UCF on Thursday at 5 p.m. The `Cats will have a doubleheader against the Golden Knights on the campus of UCF in Orlando, Fla.
