Statesboro, Ga. - Bethune-Cookman College was unable to break into the win column during the Georgia Southern Invitational on Sunday as they fell to Charleston Southern University, 5-3. The `Cats finished the weekend with a 0-5 overall mark.

Freshman pitcher Lanaya Jenkins went the whole way in the pitcher's circle for the Wildcats. Jenkins was hit for five runs on the day, but only one of them earned as the `Cats committed two errors. She spread out seven hits through six innings of work.

Charleston Southern (3-6) opened up the game early as they plated five runs in the game's first two (2) innings. Not a single extra-base hit was recorded by either team on the day as the Buccaneers used singles, a couple of wild pitches and costly errors to plate the early runs.

Right fielder Amy Trenkamp led the Buccaneers of CSU with two hits in three trips to the plate. Five other Bucs recorded singles, including first baseman Megan Hall with one hit and two runs scored.

B-CC (3-5) cut into what was a 5-0 lead in favor of CSU in the sixth frame when sophomore Ariel Robinson reached safely on an infield error, and later came around to score on a Holly Bussey single through the right side.

The `Cats put two more runs on the board to make the game respectable in the seventh inning as Tameika Jonas and Andrea Thomas scored courtesy an RBI single to third by Robinson. Thomas scored on the play following an infield error by the Bucs.

Jonas finished as the high batter for B-CC with two hits in three plate appearances, as well as one run scored. Robinson knocked in two RBI and one run scored in a 1-for-4 effort on the day.

With the loss, the Wildcats' Lanaya Jenkins dropped her record to 2-3 on the campaign, including a 0-for-3 mark in the GSU Invitational this weekend. The win went to Caitlin Allen of Charleston Southern who spread out seven hits and gave up three unearned runs on the day in the complete game.

The `Cats now have a one-game spell with Jacksonville University on Wednesday at Sunnyland Park in Daytona Beach, Fla. The game is set for a 5 p.m. start time.
