Statesboro, Ga. - Shelley Stanley hit her first homerun of the year and Stephanie Royall tossed a shutout as Samford University collected a 3-0 victory over Bethune-Cookman College in the final game of Day Two action at the Georgia Southern Invitational in Statesboro, Ga.

B-CC (3-4) touched Samford starting pitcher Stephanie Royall for just two hits on Saturday as she walked two batters and fanned seven Wildcats in the complete game shutout.

The Bulldogs of Samford (6-2) got on the board first in the home half of the first inning when she sent a solo homerun over the left field wall. Wildcats staring pitcher Lanaya Jenkins gave up three runs on seven hits throughout the game.

Samford got on the board once again in the third when first baseman Amanda Barrs singled to plate Liz Pearse from second base. Pearse singled earlier in the inning and stole second on the ensuing play. Barrs came in to score later in the frame off a double shot to right field from Jenna Dempski. Ariel Robinson and Brandi Holley were the only Wildcats to collect hits on the day.

Pearse led the Bulldogs with two hits in three plate appearances. Brittany Simao also gathered in two hits.

In collecting the win, Royall improved her record to 4-1 on the season, while B-CC's Jenkins dropped her mark to 2-2.

Bethune-Cookman College will now prepare for one last game in the annual Georgia Southern Invitational as they take on Charleston Southern tomorrow at 2 p.m. back at Eagle Field in Statesboro, Ga.
