B-CU was in the mix with a large and formidable field, and found great success on the opening day of play, finishing 3-1 in Baker play. "The ladies really stepped up to the challenge, and I was real pleased with the effort today," said B-CU Coach Tony O'Neal, "We look forward to finding out where we seed tomorrow." The Lady Wildcats opened play, taking on a MEAC Northern division foe, Howard, to set off non-conference play in the new year. B-CU got off to a strong start, and came away with a notable victory, winning by 118 pins, 691-573. In the next game, the Lady Wildcats faced a familiar opponent from the beginning of the season, but falling to Long Island, 565-602. However, the setback didn't sidetrack the B-CU bowlers, who turned in their largest victory of the season against Cheyney, winning 670-427. They closed out the day handing defeat to another MEAC Northern division team, Coppin State, winning 641-598. "We’re in a tournament with 19 of the top 20 teams in the country and we came out 3-1 on the first day," noted O'Neal, "and we look forward to continued success tomorrow as we go into the team format."
The Lady Wildcats return to Heister Lanes tomorrow morning as they face off with the tough field in team play. Stay tuned for more updates of B-CU's performance in the Kutztown Invitational, here on www.B-CUathletics.com.
