Ft. Pierce, Fla. - Bethune-Cookman University men's golf picked up a fifth place showing over the weekend as they took part in the Treasure Coast Men's Classic in Ft. Pierce, Fla. The event was hosted by St. John's University.

B-CU shot low and kept getting higher, unfortunately, as the Wildcats were just unable to keep things together as a team for three straight days. The `Cats were in fourth place after one day, but inched there scores up by three and two each day thereafter.

Sophomore Dan Venema was the leading golfer for the Wildcats as he tied for 12th place overall with a three-round total of 207. Venema shot 69s throughout the weekend affair. He would finish (-6) for the tournament.

B-CU's Juan Ronderos placed in a tie for 15th overall as he shot a combined 208 for the weekend. Ronderos registered his best round on the second day of the tournament when he shot a low-round 66.

Junior top golfer Carl Corbin was able to keep his streak of top-20 finishes alive as he shot a 210 (-3) for the event to finish in a tie for 19th place. Corbin shot a 68 the first day, but shot a 70 (Saturday) and 72 (Sunday) to close-out the tournament.

Newcomer Troy Coker (214), Chris Dunn (215) and Greg Goad (215) rounded out the scoring for the Wildcats. Goad finished with his best round on Sunday by shooting a 68.

Bethune-Cookman will compete again out on the links next week when they stay in-state for a short trip up to Jacksonville to compete in the annual North/South Men's Intercollegiate at the Jacksonville Beach Golf Course. The tournament is being hosted by Butler University out of Indianapolis.
