DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The legacy of the late J.D. Hall, one of the greatest quarterbacks in the history of Bethune-Cookman football, was augmented this week as he was posthumously selected to join the 2012 class inducted into the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Hall of Fame.

“The election of JD Hall to the MEAC Hall of Fame is a fitting tribute to his success as a student-athlete at B-CU and his many accomplishments on the gridiron,” said B-CU Director of Athletics Lynn W. Thompson. “Now the history books of the MEAC validate what we have known for years; that he was not only a great football player but leader and role model.”

Hall was a three-year starter for the Wildcats and holds the school's all-time mark in passing attempts (1,150) and completions (558). He was second all-time behind Bernard Hawk in passing yards (7,154) and passing touchdowns (44). His final game in 1992 was a 35-21 victory over Florida A&M in the Florida Classic.

“J.D. was one of the first guys I met at Bethune-Cookman and our relationship started on the scout team,” said former B-CU wide receiver Jeff Parker, who was one of Hall’s primary targets and is now the quarterbacks coach at Tennessee State University. “He was dedicated to his craft. I wouldn’t have the success I had if it hadn’t been for J.D. Hall.”

After graduating with a degree in Criminal Justice, Hall joined his former Head Coach, Larry Little, at North Carolina Central and served as the offensive coordinator. His career would take him to North Carolina A&T, Connecticut and Vanderbilt before he returned to his hometown of Jacksonville, Fla., to take over the helm at Mandarin High School as head coach. He passed away in 2007, from a heart attack at age 35.

He is the third B-CU representative in the MEAC’s Hall of Fame, joining legendary coach Jack “Cy” McClairen and former women’s basketball standout Rosina Pearson.

Hall will be a part of the five-member 2012 class to be inducted March 9 at the MEAC basketball tournament in Winston-Salem, N.C. A limited number of tickets to the Hall of Fame brunch March 9 are available at $30 apiece through the MEAC office. Contact (757) 951-2055 for more information.
