DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – In what is likely the last round of awards, perfectly timed with his appearance in Saturday’s Battle of Florida All-Star Game, Ryan Davis has received three additional nods as an FCS and HBCU All-American. With the addition of these three, it brings his total All-America honor count to nine.

American Urban Radio Networks and the Black College Football Hall of Fame named Davis, a graduating senior defensive end for the Wildcats, to the 2011 SBN Sports Black College All-American (BCAA) Team. Davis, and the other 24 honorees will be recognized at the 38th Annual BCAA Awards Reception on February 17 and during the Black College Hall of Fame Enshrinement Ceremony on February 18, at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in Atlanta, Georgia.

Davis also joins the ranks of the College Sports Journal’s FCS All-America Team as a first team defender, as well as the College Sporting News’ 2011 Fabulous Fifty FCS All-America Team as a first team defender.

Davis won the MEAC Defensive Player of the Year award and was recently named National FCS Defensive Performer of the Year by College Football Performance Awards.

The senior from Tampa, Florida finished the regular season leading the MEAC with 12 sacks (10th in FCS) and finishing second in tackles for loss with 21.5 (7th in FCS), while registering 65 tackles (including 40 solo shots). He also finished the year with 65 tackles (40 solo), 17 quarterback hurries, eight forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and a safety, now putting an exclamation point on the awards season with an FCS National Defensive Performer of the Year Award from College Football Performance Awards.

Davis joins teammates Natiel Curry, Jean Fanor, Ryan Lewis, Reggie Sandilands, and Michael Williams in competing in Saturday’s (Jan. 21) Battle of Florida All-Star Game in Boca Raton, Florida. The game will air on Fox College Sports live at 8:00 p.m. EST. Davis’ teammates will play for the South team and be coached by Howard Schnellenberger, while Davis will play for the North, coached by Bobby Bowden.
