WILDCATS ANNOUNCE TWO BASKETBALL SIGNINGS

Bethune-Cookman University Head Basketball Coach Clifford Reed Jr. announced the signing of two recruits to join his basketball program in 2009-2010. Below are quick sketches on the newest basketball Wildcats. B-CU was 17-16, in 2008-2009 for the first-ever winning season at the Division I level for the Wildcats and tied for third in the MEAC Conference standings.

ARIC MILLER (6-3, 185, Freshman, Guard, Atlanta, Georgia -Tucker High School - Sound Doctrine Prep School in LaGrange, Georgia)

"Aric is a 6-3 combo guard who gives us depth in the back court," said Coach Reed. He's a tremendous person and a very good player. He provides us with an additional playmaker bt creating opportunities for himself and other platers. Also, he's a good shooter from 15-17 feet. His savvy skills, talent, and work ethic will enable him to compete to play immediately. The Cage Cats are fortunate to sign a person and player of Aric's caliber."

Miller averaged 20 points, 7 assists, 5 steals, and 3 rebounds per game for Coach James Harty and the 2006-2007 Georgia Class AAAA State Championship Tucker HS team. In 2008-2009 - at Sound Doctrine Prep - Georgia.


 

 

ALBERT ABRAHAMS (6-9, 320, Center, Junior, Miami, Fla - Norland High School - Indian River CC - played 2007-2009 at Indian River) - Led Miami Norland to State 6A Championship in High School

"Albert is a massive 6-9, 320 pound center who will provide us with much needed inside presence, said Coach Reed. "He has a soft featery jump shot from 15 feet and shoots a jump hook when posting up. He will provide rebounding and interior defense for us. We we excited to have an experienced player of his skill and size."

Averaged 12 points, 9.2 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks last season at Indian River CC. 58% from the field.

 

B-CU had two early signings in November (information below)

TWO GEORGIA HIGH SCHOOL STARS INK WITH WILDCATS

"We are ecstatic to be signing two quality players and character student-athletes to join our basketball program at Bethune-Cookman University," said B-CU Head Coach Clifford Reed Jr. "Assistant Coach Michael Williams II is from Georgia and he worked very hard along with Associate Head Coach Gravelle Craig in bringing in these two players."

Signing with B-CU during the early signing period:

KEVIN DUKES (5-9, 155, Point and Shooting Guard) - Lithonia, Georgia (Stephenson High School)Averaged 15.6 points, 7.8 assists, 3.7 steals, and 4 rebounds his junior year at Stephenson High School earning 2007-2008 All-DeKalb County honors. The SHS Jaguars made it the Elite Eight of the 2008 Georgia State champions.

JAVORIS BRYANT (6-4, 180, Forward) - Atlanta, Georgia (Westlake High School) Four-year varsity player for Westlake and one of the top 30 high school players rated in Georgia for 2008-2009. Averaged 17 points and 12 rebounds as a junior in 2007-2008.  Is an Honor Roll student-athlete.
