Dec. 18, 2006 Virginia Beach, Va. - Bethune-Cookman College men's basketball player Jimmy Hudson has been named as this week's Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office this afternoon in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Hudson, a 6-foot-4, 200-pound junior guard/forward who transferred from Clemson University just over a year ago, averaged a whopping 18 points and 3.6 rebounds per contest through three (3) games last week for the Wildcats as they continued their west coast tour. He also helped out defensively with an average of two steals per game. Hudson stamped his best performance of the week against the University of Southern California in Los Angeles as he chipped in a game-high tying 22 points, three rebounds and three assists. He was 8-of-13 shooting in the game, including a season-high 6-of-9 from three-point land. His 22 points and six three-pointers were both season-high marks for the `Cats in individual game highs on the 2006-07 campaign. But, leave it to Jimmy Hudson to top his own accomplishments, as he accounted for what was then a season-high point total of 21 points against Oregon just three days prior to the USC game. Hudson led the Wildcats in three-of-four games on the `Cats longest road trip since moving to the Division I ranks (four games in nine days) against Oregon State, Oregon and USC. Hudson also scored 11 points against Cal State Fullerton in the west coast finale. This is the first time this season that Jimmy Hudson has been named as MEAC Player of the Week.
