Contact B-CU SID Mark Johnson (386) 481-2206 - DAYTON, OHIO - FLYERS (3-0) WIN AGAIN AT HOME - BEAT B-CU 78-38 ON SUNDAY The Dayton Flyers upped their record to 3-0 wih a convincing 78-38 win Sunday afternoon over Bethune-Cookman University (1-2) at UD Arena before 12,687 red-clad fans. Dayton led from the out-set 7-0, and led at halftime 38-19 limiting B-CU to only six points in the paint for the ball game. The B-CU Wildcats were led by freshman point guard C.J. Reed with 19 points, hitting 3-5 three-pointers and 6-12 overall field goals in the game. Reed also had 4 assists and was handling the ball all game long as the aggressive Dayton defense (held B-CU to 24% shooting, 12-50 in the game and forced 21 turnovers. "We knew they would be a very good team," said B-CU Coach Clifford Reed Jr. "They play aggressive defensively all over the court and it is tough to simulate that intensity and speed in practice. They are deciples of Michigan State's program (Dayton Coach Gregory was a former Spartan assitant coach) and they played well. With our young team (10 new players) - we will continue to improve and get better." B-CU's 2008-2009 home opener is set for December 2, 7 pm at Moore Gymnasium. The Wildcats beat Edward Waters College 70-64, November 15 playing the game at Embry-Riddle University with the new wood floor construction on campus shifting home sites for the men's and women's teams. |
