Condell Leads Wildcat Cross Country at the Bobby Lange InvitationalTALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Bethune-Cookman Cross Country teams returned to the course this past weekend, as they traveled to FAMU for the Bobby Lang Invitational on the FAMU campus. Alex Condell took the lead for B-CU, finishing third in a time of 21:25 in the women's 5k. Also for the women's team, Crystal Barge finished 15th (25:13), Jacquennee Flowers came in 17th (28:24), Lashondra Wilbon at 18th (28:48), Vanderlynn Watts at 19th (31:17), Samantha Sharper at 20th, and rounding out the team at 21st, Ryan Sanders finished in 32:33. The Women's team finished third in the meet with 58 combined points. In the men's 8k, William Cosby again topped the Wildcats, finishing 15th in a time of 36:52, followed by Marcell Keeling (17th, 38:56), Robert Horton (18th, 40:02), Chris Jackson (19th, 40:02), Joel Redhead (20th, 40:11), Chris Herring (21st, 41:35), and Eric Cray (22nd, 43:35). Then men finished 3rd in the meet, collecting 80 combined points. The teams take on week off before heading up the road on Oct. 16, to the Stetson Hatter Invitational in DeLand, Fla. ### [+] 9/28/09
Cooper Named as New Bethune-Cookman Track CoachDirector of Athletics Lynn W. Thompson officially announced Monday the hiring of Donald Cooper as the interim head track & field coach of the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats. Bethune-Cookman University Statement Regarding Release of Coaching StaffBethune-Cookman University (B-CU) announced Tuesday, September 8, that it has released Head Track Coach Garfield Ellenwood and Assistant Track Coach Kia Davis, effective immediately. This decision comes after a thorough internal review of ongoing issues in the track and field program which involve violations of University policy, as well as MEAC conference and NCAA rules. B-CU Cross Country Open Season in JacksonvilleThe Bethune-Cookman Cross Country teams took to the road Friday, as they headed to Jacksonville to open the 2009 Cross Country season at the JU Short Course Duals meet. The Wildcats turned in some strong individual performances for each team in the meet, but did not fare well as a team in the small field for the meet. [+]
