SEATTLE, Wash. - The Wildcats of Bethune-Cookman track and field made a rare trip to the Pacific Coast this weekend, as they traveled to the UW Invitational on the campus of the University of Washington. The event was a true invitational, with mainly western schools, and only select B-CU athletes participating. Those competing had met qualifying standards for the meet. With all of the Wildcat events on Saturday, B-CU turned in five top finishes, for a solid performance against the field. Ron Danielle Williams made B-CU's top finish, collecting third place in the women's shot put, throwing a distance of 15.16m (49-09.00 ft.), her season-best throw by nearly a meter. Maketa Ruffin also threw in the shot, finishing twenty-sixth with a distance of 11.92m (39-01.25 ft.). In the men's 60m hurdles, DJ Howard improved his time from the preliminaries by one tenth of a second to move up one position and finish fourth in a time of 8.04 seconds. In the men's 200m dash, Chris Herring crossed the line in fourth, with a time of 22.23 seconds. Also in the 200, Demetrius Douglas-Davis came in 18th (22.87). For the women's 60m dash, Analisa Austin, knocked some time off her preliminary performance, moving up three spots in the finals to finish fifth, in a time of 7.68 seconds. Also competing on Saturday, Chris Herring and Martin Embry tied for 22nd in the 60m dash, both crossing with a time of 7.07. Eric Cray finished 24th in the 400m dash at 49.88, while Martin Embry finished 25th (49.92), Chris Jackson finished 27th (49.95), and Devon Creary came in 30th (50.10).
