Wildcats Open Competition at Indoor MEAC Championships
The Wildcats of Bethune-Cookman University Track & Field opened competition, Friday, in the Prince George Sports Complex for the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Indoor Track & Field Championships. The team had several high points, but came up short in points scoring, wrapping the first day in women's 9th place with 12 points, and men's 11th with 1 point. However, the Wildcats did come away with three qualifiers into Saturday's final, nine finishers in the top ten, and first-place performance for senior Ron Danielle Williams. The Wildcats of Bethune-Cookman Track & Field are looking to top off the indoor season with some top finishes, this weekend at the MEAC Indoor Track & Field Championships. The meet gets off to a later start than originally planned, due to heavy snows along the Atlantic seaboard, hampering air and road travel. The change in schedule is not anticipated to affect B-CU's events, as the meet began with multi-events. B-CU's season featured many bright spots of success along the way, and the team is looking to put it all together against the conference schools. The Wildcat Track & Field Indoor season creeps closer to the championships as the Wildcats competed this weekend at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational at the Armory Track and Field Center. B-CU turned in several top performances against the elite field with athletes from every major conference, including one first-place finish for Analisa Austin in the 60m Dash. The Wildcats of Bethune-Cookman track and field made a rare trip to the Pacific Coast this weekend, as they traveled to the UW Invitational on the campus of the University of Washington. The event was a true invitational, with mainly western schools, and only select B-CU athletes participating. Those competing had met qualifying standards for the meet. The Wildcats of Bethune-Cookman Track & Field finished out the Niswonger Invitational, Saturday, at the ETSU Memorial Center. The day's events featured several relays, middle distance events, and sprint finals for B-CU. The Wildcats came away with some solid finishes in several events, making a solid showing against the large field of schools. [+]
